Our Mission
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) strives to support students throughout the financial aid process. OSFA has the overall responsibility of administering Federal or State financial aid and Scholarships awards at San Francisco State University. We determine the eligibility, awardin and the conditions in which these awards may be disbursed.
OSFA communicates with our students via their SF State E-mail and SF State Gateway. To keep yourself up to date - Make sure to check both regularly.

Summer class registration is right around the corner and you may be wondering, "Will financial aid be available for the Summer?" The answer is YES - Financial aid will be available for students who attend! February 21 (Friday) - Spring 2025 Tuition Payment Deadline
15th of every month - On-Campus housing payment due date

January 22 (Wednesday) - First disbursement date of the Spring 2025 semester
For students who have been awarded official awards for the 2024-2025 school year (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025) here at SF State, our first disbursement date for the Spring 2025 semester was on Wednesday - January 22. 2025-2026 school year - Fall 2025, Spring 2026, & Summer 2026 semesters
Financial aid applications for next academic year are now available to complete. If you would like to be awarded financial aid for that school year here at SFSU, then please complete either a 2025-2026 FAFSA or CADAA. May 2, 2024 - State priority deadline
Students must have completed their 2024-25 applications by this date in order to be considered for State financial aid
Official financial aid awards for the 2024-2025 school year (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025) have been posted for students who have successfully completed these two steps:
- Filed a 2024-2025 financial aid application (FAFSA or CADAA)
- Listed SF State as their top school of choice (School code: 001154)
If you still have not been awarded anything or the awards in your Student Center are listed as "Estimated," then please refer to your To Do List in your SF State Gateway for any financial aid related items because your financial aid application has been selected for Verification (Further review).
